The Big Love of the World’s Smallest Couple

Size Doesn’t Matter When It Comes to Love

In a world where appearances often seem to matter most, Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros and Katyucia Hoshino from Brazil prove that true love knows no boundaries—and certainly no height restrictions. Together, they measure a combined 5 feet, 10 inches, earning the title of the world’s shortest couple and hoping to make their mark in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Two Hearts, One Dream

Paulo, 30, stands at just 34.8 inches tall and lives with diastrophic dysplasia dwarfism. A legal secretary by profession, Paulo is not only ambitious in love but also in life—he’s even considering running for mayor in his hometown of Itapeva. “Respect wasn’t conquered from one day to another. Respect was conquered through a lot of hard work,” Paulo shares, reflecting on his journey.

Paulo, 30 and his girlfriend, Katyucia, 26, each measure less than three feet tall.

Katyucia, 26, is about an inch taller than Paulo and has achondroplasia dwarfism. She’s the proud owner of a beauty salon—a dream she held for years. “It was a dream I had, a very long time ago. But because of how my life happened I didn’t get the opportunity,” says Katyucia. “We adapted my gurney, we adapted everything that needed to be adapted and then I really started working in that area.”

From Online Chat to Real-Life Romance

Their love story began a decade ago on a social media website, where Paulo first saw Katyucia and was instantly smitten. They started chatting on MSN Messenger, but things didn’t go smoothly at first. “The first time I started talking to Paulo, he was really annoying. He had cheap pick-up lines,” Katyucia remembers, admitting she blocked him almost immediately.

But fate—and persistence—had other plans. A year and a half later, Katyucia unblocked Paulo. “By then he was already more relatable,” she says. Their connection deepened, and just a few months later, Paulo traveled over 186 miles to Londrina to meet Katyucia in person. “He was wearing an orange shirt, jeans and sunglasses—thank God it has improved since then,” she laughs.

Building a Life Together

Four years after their first meeting, Paulo and Katyucia moved in together, adapting their home and daily routines to suit their needs. Grocery shopping together with a specially adapted trolley, relaxing at home, sharing dreams and laughter—their life is filled with the same joys and challenges as any couple, just in a slightly smaller package.

“Basically, we are a normal couple but our height is a little smaller,” Paulo says. “The best thing about our relationship is our closeness, our companionship we have for each other.”

After eight years together, marriage is on their minds, though Paulo has yet to officially propose. They’ve also talked about starting a family, but Katyucia knows the risks involved. “My pregnancy would be high risk because the size of my uterus wouldn’t support a baby,” she explains. “We’ve decided to let things happen at the right moment. In regards to the future, we say: ‘Never say never.’”

Inspiring the World

Paulo and Katyucia’s story is a testament to resilience, adaptation, and above all, love. They’ve faced prejudice, health challenges, and the daily hurdles of living in a world not built for people their size. But together, they’ve built a life full of respect, laughter, and dreams.

Their big love shines brighter than any obstacle, proving that the heart truly measures the size of a relationship—not inches or feet. As they look forward to the future, Paulo and Katyucia remind us all: love knows no limits, and happiness comes in all sizes.
